Chennai, March 19 (NationPress) The spokesperson for the Tamil Nadu BJP and senior party figure ANS Prasad has asserted that MDMK leader Vaiko's remarks in the Rajya Sabha, which allege collaboration between the Indian Coast Guard and the Sri Lankan Navy to intimidate Tamil Nadu fishermen, are nothing but a falsehood and a malicious endeavor to tarnish the reputation of the Indian Navy.
He noted that Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin's DMK and Congress are complicit in Vaiko's disloyalty through their silence, adding that the partnership between Stalin and Vaiko represents a serious threat to India's sovereignty and national integrity.
Prasad claimed that Stalin has orchestrated this political drama to serve his agenda, jeopardizing national security and sowing discord among the populace. He contended that such actions amount to treason, and Vaiko should be held accountable.
Prasad stated, 'His remarks insult the Indian Army and jeopardize national security, eroding the country's unity and integrity.'
The senior BJP leader expressed that the nation is outraged and appalled by Vaiko's false and derogatory comments made during a discussion on March 19, 2025. 'Vaiko's assertion that the Indian Navy is in collusion with the Sri Lankan Navy to harm Tamil Nadu fishermen is a serious accusation that undermines the armed forces, national unity, and poses a substantial threat to national security,' ANS Prasad declared.
He pointed out that as a member of the Rajya Sabha, Vaiko has disregarded the privileges of the House and has brought disrepute to the institution.
The Tamil Nadu BJP spokesperson emphasized that Vaiko’s statement clearly violates the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the Rajya Sabha, which mandate that members uphold the dignity of the House and avoid making defamatory or discriminatory statements.
ANS Prasad accused Vaiko's comments of potentially fostering discontent among Indian citizens towards the Indian Army and the Government of India, as well as promoting animosity among different groups.
'Vaiko, a notorious separatist politician, has been posing as a defender of Tamil rights while secretly collaborating with anti-Indian entities,' the BJP leader asserted.
He mentioned that Vaiko's disloyal behavior has been well-documented, citing accusations of clandestine meetings with Prabhakaran, the leader of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), intending to instigate political turmoil in Tamil Nadu.
He claimed that despite his questionable history, Vaiko continues to receive backing from certain political factions, including the DMK. The Tamil Nadu BJP leader pointed out that since Narendra Modi took office as Prime Minister in 2014, the BJP government has ensured the protection and rescue of Tamil Nadu fishermen, preventing the recurrence of such heinous incidents.
ANS Prasad remarked that unlike previous administrations, the Modi government has swiftly acted to safeguard Tamil Nadu fishermen, engaging in diplomatic negotiations with the Sri Lankan government to avert assaults. 'Prime Minister Modi has become a defender of Tamil Nadu fishermen's rights, protecting their interests and ensuring their safety,' he added.
ANS Prasad concluded that the nation will not overlook Vaiko's treacherous actions, and immediate measures must be taken against him by the Central Government. Vaiko's Rajya Sabha membership should be revoked, and he must face legal action.
