Prior to the event, Sunny Joseph, the president-designate of KPCC, paid homage at the memorials of past Chief Ministers K. Karunakaran in Thrissur and Oommen Chandy in Puthuppally on Sunday.
He was joined by newly appointed working presidents A.P. Anil Kumar, Shafi Parambil, and P.C. Vishnunath.
The takeover function will see attendance from numerous senior party figures, including All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary Deepa Dasmunsi, Leader of the Opposition V.D. Satheesan, outgoing KPCC president K. Sudhakaran, past KPCC leaders, and heads of various District Congress Committees (DCCs).
Due to the ongoing tensions at the India-Pakistan border, the KPCC has chosen to keep the event modest, avoiding extravagant celebrations as a sign of respect.
Speaking to the press in Kannur, outgoing president K. Sudhakaran characterized the leadership transition as smooth and amicable.
“There may be minor challenges within the Congress, yet the party has consistently found solutions. The unity observed today is unparalleled in recent times, and there are efforts to sustain it,” he remarked.
Sudhakaran, who has been designated as a permanent invitee to the Congress Working Committee (CWC), reaffirmed his dedication to the party on a national level.
“I am willing to travel anywhere in the world for the Congress. That is my commitment as a devoted party member,” he stated.
He also expressed his determination to unseat the ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF) in the forthcoming Assembly elections.
“My mission is to defeat Pinarayi Vijayan's government. I will persist in this effort with complete determination. This is my pledge, and I stand by it with joy,” declared the Kannur MP.
