Mumbai, March 16 (NationPress) Maharashtra BJP MLA Ram Kadam voiced his support for Union Minister Nitin Gadkari's emphasis on the necessity of education within the Muslim community, stressing that individuals should seek knowledge while adhering to their faith.

During a convocation event at the Central India Group of Institutions in Nagpur, Gadkari remarked, "In our society, the community that requires education the most is the Muslim community."

He further noted, "Regrettably, only five professions have gained traction within this community – tea stalls, paan shops, scrap dealing, truck driving, and cleaning. If members of our society aspire to become engineers, doctors, IAS, and IPS officers, societal advancement is inevitable. We may pray in the mosque countless times, but if we do not embrace science and technology, what future awaits us?"

In an interview with IANS regarding this matter, Kadam echoed Gadkari's sentiments.

"Nitin Gadkari possesses a comprehensive vision. Every individual should adhere to their faith, but neglecting science can lead to numerous challenges in life. Thus, while practicing religion, one must also champion science and education," he stated, asserting that this ideology should be embraced as education is critical for all.

Simultaneously, amidst calls from BJP leaders to dismantle Mughal emperor Aurangzeb's tomb in Khuldabad, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) have intensified their demands, threatening to perform 'karseva' (symbolic purification) if the government does not take action.

The two organizations have organized protests outside tehsildar and district collector offices throughout Maharashtra, contending that Aurangzeb's tomb is a divisive emblem that incites communal strife.

In response, Kadam criticized the prior Uddhav Thackeray-led administration for permitting the glorification of Aurangzeb.

"Some individuals in Maharashtra are celebrating the invader Aurangzeb, and this trend began during Uddhav Thackeray's regime. Aurangzeb inflicted torture and murder upon his own father, deceitfully killed his relatives, and mistreated our Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. He executed Veer Sambhaji and forcibly imposed Jizya tax on people. Considering these historical realities, it is inappropriate to honor such a figure in our nation," Kadam expressed.

Nevertheless, he acknowledged that Aurangzeb's tomb is safeguarded under the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) due to decisions made during the Congress era.

"Given that it falls under legal jurisdiction, specific protocols must be adhered to while respecting legal frameworks," he added.

The ongoing debate surrounding Aurangzeb's legacy remains a polarizing topic in Maharashtra, with political and right-wing factions firmly asserting their views on historical narratives and their contemporary repercussions.
