New Delhi, Nov 4 (NationPress) The popularity of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is poised to play a crucial role in the forthcoming Bihar Assembly elections, as indicated by the latest IANS-Matrize Opinion Poll, where 63 percent of participants expressed their intent to vote based on his reputation. Conducted from October 10 to November 3, with a sample size of 73,287, the poll revealed that a significant 63 percent of voters regard PM Modi's popularity as a major influencing factor in the elections scheduled for November 6 and 11.
Furthermore, 9 percent of respondents were uncertain about the impact of PM Modi’s popularity on the elections, while 8 percent acknowledged that it would have some effect on the outcomes.
Conversely, 19 percent of those surveyed believe that PM Modi’s popularity will not influence the Bihar elections, according to the findings. The margin of error for this poll is 3 percent.
Close to half of the participants, including 15,390 first-time voters, expressed support for Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to retain his position after the elections, with results to be announced on November 14.
In the IANS-Matrize Opinion Poll, 46 percent of participants favored Nitish Kumar of the Janata Dal (United) as their preferred choice for the position of Bihar Chief Minister, while 15 percent selected Tejashwi Yadav from the Mahagathbandhan as their choice.
Nitish Kumar's appeal as a chief ministerial candidate is also tied to the satisfaction level of voters regarding his administration. Notably, 44 percent of respondents expressed being “very satisfied” with the functioning of the Nitish Kumar-led government, and 38 percent reported being “satisfied” with the government’s performance.
The elections will see 121 assembly seats contested in the first phase and 122 seats in the second phase. The current Assembly, comprising 243 members, is set to conclude its term on November 22, 2025, with 2,616 candidates contesting across both phases.
Bihar boasts 7.43 crore registered voters, including 3.92 crore men and 3.5 crore women, with elections taking place across 90,712 polling booths.
