Is JD(U)'s Shyam Rajak Supporting Nishant Kumar's Political Aspirations?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Patna, Jan 24 (NationPress) Following the public endorsement from Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh, also known as Lalan Singh, for Nishant Kumar's potential entry into politics, senior JD(U) figure and MLA Shyam Rajak voiced his approval on Saturday. During a press interaction in Patna, Rajak hailed Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's son as a skilled and promising youth leader, emphasizing that the ultimate choice lies with Nishant Kumar himself.
“Nishant Kumar embodies the spirit of youth leadership—he is intelligent, educated, dynamic, and capable. Nonetheless, the decision to engage in active politics is solely his. Should he opt for this path, we will embrace it with open arms. His leadership is bound to uplift not just the youth but the entire state of Bihar,” Rajak stated.
These comments provoked a strong response from the opposition party Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), which accused the JD(U) of staging a premeditated political debut for the Chief Minister's son.
RJD spokesperson Ejaz Ahmed claimed that recent occurrences, including those at the JD(U) office during Saraswati Puja, were intentionally orchestrated to garner support for Nishant Kumar’s political entrance.
“The situation at the JD(U) office was a scripted move to generate enthusiasm for Nishant Kumar’s political debut. Nitish Kumar has been introducing his son to guests at his official residence, 1 Anne Marg. The way the Saraswati Puja event unfolded was part of a concerted effort to create a positive political environment,” Ahmed asserted.
Ahmed further criticized the JD(U) leadership for its inconsistent stance on dynastic politics. “JD(U) leaders are indulging in contradictory politics. While they present Nitish Kumar as opposed to dynastic politics, they simultaneously push for his son's involvement in active politics. This is occurring with the Chief Minister's endorsement,” he remarked.
He further noted that Nitish Kumar has long been seen as a socialist leader against dynastic politics, but current developments suggest a shift in that ideology. “From opposing dynastic politics, Nitish Kumar now appears to be gradually embracing it, compromising his socialist persona,” Ahmed claimed.
So far, Nishant Kumar has not issued any formal statements regarding a foray into politics. However, the increasing support from JD(U) leaders combined with strong backlash from the opposition indicates that discussions regarding his political future are heating up in Bihar's political arena.
Earlier on Friday, a Saraswati Puja event hosted by the JD(U) IT Cell saw the attendance of several senior leaders, including Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Union Minister Lalan Singh, and Nishant Kumar.
During the event, Lalan Singh reportedly suggested that Nitish Kumar should allow his son to enter politics, reigniting speculation about a potential political role for the Chief Minister’s son.
