Is the Survey of Cemetery Land Near Jama Masjid in Sambhal Getting Underway Amid Encroachment Claims?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Sambhal, Dec 30 (NationPress) In response to allegations of unlawful encroachments on the cemetery adjacent to the Jama Masjid in Uttar Pradesh's Sambhal, the local authorities commenced a survey on Tuesday.
Tehsildar Dhirendra Pratap Singh stated that a report had been lodged claiming that individuals had unlawfully erected shops and residences on cemetery property, and necessary actions are being implemented following legal procedures.
He mentioned that the land encompasses roughly 4,000 square metres and is designated as plot number 32. The extent and nature of the constructions on the cemetery land will be ascertained only after the survey is finalized. Preliminary observations suggest that shops and homes may have been constructed on the premises.
Singh added that the survey relies on historical revenue documentation. The NZA record, which confirms the existence of the Jama Masjid, is also being utilized for evaluating the cemetery land. Officials assert that this document is the sole legitimate record for the village.
A collaborative team of 20 revenue officials has been assigned by the administration to conduct the survey. Officials made it clear that if any illegal encroachments are identified during the survey, stringent actions will be enforced against the involved parties according to the law.
The administration has taken a proactive stance to guarantee that the survey proceeds smoothly and without disturbance. A substantial police presence has been established at the location under the guidance of Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Kuldeep Singh and Circle Officer (CO) Alok Bhati. Female police personnel have also been deployed to assist in maintaining peace and order in the vicinity.
For security reasons, the site is being continuously monitored using weapons, CCTV cameras, and drones. The entire area is under vigilant observation to avert any possible incidents.
A joint team of revenue officials is expected to arrive at the site shortly to execute the survey.
ASP Kuldeep Singh, present at the site, assured that police deployment is fully operational and alert.
He detailed that Station House Officers (SHOs) from 8 to 9 police stations, alongside 4 to 5 inspector-level officers, and teams from the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC), Rapid Response Force (RRF), and Local Intelligence Unit (LIO), were all mobilized at the location. Moreover, the complete civil police force is on duty.
The ASP noted that the area is being observed via drone cameras and the Integrated Command and Control Centre (I-CCC). He also mentioned that the social media monitoring unit is fully operational, with prompt action taken against any misleading or false information. Communication has been established with local residents to prevent the spread of rumors and uphold peace in the area.
