Sambhal's Bold Anti-Encroachment Operation Targets Illegal Structures Amid Security
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Sambhal, April 17 (NationPress) A significant demolition operation was executed on Friday in the Sambhal district of Uttar Pradesh, where the local administration employed bulldozers and heavy equipment to eliminate purported illegal structures in the village of Mubarakpur Band, situated under the jurisdiction of Asmoli police station.
Key officials, including District Magistrate (DM) Rajender Pensiya and Superintendent of Police Krishan Kumar Bishnoi, were present at the demolition site, accompanied by a strong police presence and Rapid Response Force (RRF) members to ensure safety and order throughout the operation.
The initiative was prompted by a complaint lodged by the village head approximately three months prior, concerning unauthorized constructions.
According to the Sambhal DM, "After a thorough hearing, a 30-day appeal period was granted. Initially, locals pledged to dismantle the structures voluntarily; however, when this did not occur, the administration intervened."
During the operation, sections of a madrasa and several adjacent shops were demolished.
While the mosque structure was initially untouched, plans for further action were underway.
Eventually, two hydraulic machines were utilized to take down a minaret approximately 35-40 feet high, with the entire operation spanning about three hours.
As a precaution, nearby residences were evacuated prior to the demolition process.
Tensions flared momentarily when iron rods from a lintel made contact with overhead power lines, creating sparks.
The operation was promptly halted to avert any danger.
Naib Tehsildar Arvind Kumar coordinated with the electricity department to ensure a temporary shutdown of the power supply.
Naib Tehsildar Bablu Kumar confirmed that prior notification was given to the electricity department, and their timely action averted a significant mishap.
"The demolition of madrasa rooms and shops is ongoing, and further actions regarding the mosque will proceed according to established procedures," he stated.
The administration emphasized that this initiative is part of a broader anti-encroachment campaign aimed at reclaiming government land, while affected residents continue to seek compensation and assistance.
