Tamil Nadu to Recruit 3,000 Educators for Public Schools

Chennai, Dec 8 (NationPress) The Minister of School Education for Tamil Nadu, Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi, has declared that 3,000 educators will be recruited for public schools.

In a statement made on Sunday, the minister underscored a considerable backlog of teacher vacancies that was left unresolved during the prior AIADMK administration.

He accused the former AIADMK government of disregarding these vacancies throughout their decade-long governance.

The minister assured that the current administration, under the leadership of Chief Minister M. K. Stalin, is actively working to fill the positions for secondary school teachers in government institutions.

Anbil Mahesh attributed the rise in enrollments in public schools to enhanced educational standards and infrastructure improvements under the Dravidian model governance.

He stated, "It is essential to have a sufficient number of educators, and we have been taking measures to appoint qualified individuals."

However, he acknowledged certain hurdles in finalizing the recruitment process.

Non-teaching personnel have requested appointments and promotions based on seniority, adding complexity to the teacher recruitment process.

The minister highlighted that this matter has been brought to the attention of the Chief Minister, assuring that an appropriate solution will be found under his direction.

He reiterated the government's dedication to filling every teaching vacancy to uphold the quality of education in state-run schools.

The Tamil Nadu School Education Department has been launching an expedited campaign to enhance student enrollment in public schools.

In the ongoing academic year, 80,076 new students have registered in state-run institutions.

Public schools in Kallakurichi district have observed the highest enrollment, with 10,411 new students admitted since March 1.

To boost enrollment, the Department has instructed District Education Officers, educators, and parents to promote public schools through various awareness initiatives.

Strategies included distributing leaflets, organizing rallies, and displaying banners to emphasize the advantages of public school education and welfare programs.

Schools have also employed autorickshaws to disseminate enrollment messages within local communities.

K. Anbarasan, a teacher in Chennai, remarked, "Educators frequently visit homes to inform parents about the benefits of enrolling their children in public schools. Last year, we registered over 200 children."

Despite these initiatives, primary school teachers have highlighted challenges in competing with private institutions.

R. Gomathi, a teacher from Kallakurichi, explained, "While we provide numerous benefits, we are critically understaffed. Private schools guarantee a dedicated educator per classroom and emphasize English, making competition tough for us."

The Tamil Nadu government remains committed to tackling these challenges and ensuring that public schools deliver quality education to all students.
