Chennai, Nov 25 (NationPress) The Deputy Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Udhayanidhi Stalin, emphatically stated on Tuesday that the state will oppose any initiative by the Union government to impose Hindi. He proclaimed that the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) is ready to engage in a 'language war' if required.
While addressing the ABP Network’s Southern Rising Summit 2025 in Chennai, Stalin noted that this gathering occurs during a time of increasing centralization of power in India and cautioned against the diminishing rights of states.
“If there is an attempt to impose Hindi, Tamil Nadu stands ready for a language war,” he reiterated, emphasizing the state's historical resistance to the imposition of Hindi.
“We have consistently defended our language, our rights as a state, our democracy, and the voting rights of our citizens,” he emphasized.
Stalin accused the BJP-led Union government of undermining federalism by economically punishing states that excel and politically targeting regional administrations.
“The BJP is attempting to render economically robust states politically vulnerable and politically strong states economically weak,” he asserted in Tamil, highlighting how Tamil Nadu has been adversely affected by “unjust tax revenue distribution, delays or obstruction of funds, centrally imposed initiatives, the New Education Policy, and the anticipated delimitation exercise.”
Delving into his political philosophy, Stalin drew a compelling comparison between computer science and Dravidian politics.
“An algorithm is a systematic approach to solving a problem or achieving a result. In computing, it directs the machine on what actions to take,” he explained, adding, “The politics of Tamil Nadu also follows a precise and consistent methodology; we refer to this as the Dravidian algorithm.”
He elaborated that this 'algorithm' has evolved over the last century through principles of social justice, cultural pride, and political reforms.
“This framework guides the people of Tamil Nadu in making critical political choices. One such choice is that the Tamil populace will never yield to the supremacy of the Union government,” he stated.
The Deputy CM asserted that the DMK will continue to be a formidable advocate for federalism and justice. “We will persist in our fight to safeguard our language, the rights of states, democracy, and the people's right to vote,” he declared.
The third iteration of ABP Network’s flagship Southern Rising Summit is currently taking place at ITC Grand Chola in Chennai, themed “Ready for the Future: Innovation, Transformation, Inspiration.”
This summit investigates the growing political, economic, and cultural significance of South India within the national context.
In addition to Udhayanidhi Stalin, the speaker roster includes Tamil Nadu's School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi, former BJP state president K. Annamalai, PMK leader Anbumani Ramadoss, and actress Malavika Mohanan.
The event also showcases cultural performances and motivational narratives. Veteran playback singer Kavita Krishnamurthy is set to perform, alongside comedian Shraddha Jain (commonly known as Aiyyo Shraddha).
