Patna, Aug 18 (NationPress) As leaders from the INDIA Bloc, including Congress MP and Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, embarked on a 1,300 km-long 'Voter Adhikar Yatra' from Bihar’s Sasaram to challenge the Election Commission of India (ECI)'s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list, former Bihar Cabinet Minister and the elder son of RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav, Tej Pratap Yadav, dismissed the initiative on Monday. He stated that the concerns raised by his brother Tejashwi Yadav and LoP Rahul Gandhi would lead to no significant outcomes.
In an interview with IANS, Tej Pratap Yadav remarked, “LoP Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav are addressing their issues with this 'Voter Adhikar Yatra'. Nothing will come of the issues they are raising. The real challenges we face are in education, health, and unemployment. The ECI is fulfilling its responsibilities, while these leaders are pursuing their agendas, but it confuses the public. People should refrain from participating in such activities, as they only distract from core issues, ultimately benefiting the Opposition.”
The inaugural event of the yatra saw attendance from the RJD chief, former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar Tejashwi Yadav, along with numerous other INDIA Bloc leaders.
This march will traverse 25 districts of Bihar, as the Congress amplifies its campaign against what it terms “vote chori” and strives to raise public awareness regarding the ongoing voter list revision. The 16-day journey will conclude in Patna on September 1 with a grand rally.
Regarding preparations for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, he stated, “We are fully prepared. I have already declared my intention to contest from the Mahua constituency. I have previous victories here, and I have focused on development by constructing roads and medical colleges. My goal is to establish Mahua as a district. In the future, I aim to bring an engineering college here as well. That is my priority.”
Additionally, he emphasized the formation of his new political platform, Team Tej Pratap.
“If anyone is interested in contesting elections, I will support them through Team Tej Pratap,” he added.
With the Assembly polls looming just two months away, political activity in Bihar has surged. Recently, Tej Pratap Yadav announced his first candidate under Team Tej Pratap. Social worker Jai Prakash Yadav, commonly known as 'Gandhi Yadav', has been named the candidate for the Ghosi Assembly constituency in Jehanabad district.
The announcement was made at a gathering at Tej Pratap’s residence, where Jai Prakash Yadav officially joined the organization along with hundreds of supporters.
“The esteemed people of the Ghosi Assembly constituency have selected Jai Prakash Yadav. This is commendable, and I pay tribute to the people of Jehanabad,” Tej Pratap stated while introducing him.
He indicated that Jai Prakash Yadav’s entry signifies the beginning of broader participation in his newly launched organization.
“Many more individuals are in the pipeline and will be joining us soon. We will continue our efforts to connect more people with Team Tej Pratap,” he concluded.
