Tejashwi Yadav Claims 'One Nation, One Election' is an RSS Initiative

Patna, Dec 17 (NationPress) Bihar's Leader of the Opposition (LoP) Tejashwi Yadav stated on Tuesday that the 'One Nation, One Election Bill' presented in Parliament is a part of the agenda set forth by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

The bill was introduced in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday, garnering 269 votes in support and 198 votes against, before being assigned to the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) for further examination.

Tejashwi Yadav criticized the legislation, labeling it as an extension of the RSS agenda.

While addressing a Karyakartya Samvad event in Madhepura, Yadav accused the BJP-led Central government of advancing a political narrative crafted by the RSS to exert control over electoral processes across the nation.

He raised concerns about the feasibility of conducting simultaneous elections, questioning, “If the Election Commission cannot manage simultaneous elections in a state like Bihar, how can it be feasible for the entire country?”

The proposed bill advocates for synchronized elections for both the Lok Sabha and state assemblies, a proposition that supporters claim would diminish election expenditures and enhance governance efficiency. However, critics like Tejashwi Yadav argue that it threatens federalism, poses logistical hurdles, and centralizes authority.

In his address, Tejashwi Yadav outlined his vision for the state, asserting that his main objective is to elevate Bihar to a leading position among Indian states by addressing its two most critical challenges—unemployment and migration. To gain insights into local issues, he is visiting multiple districts and interacting with party members to collect their perspectives.

Based on this feedback, Tejashwi announced a significant welfare program under the Mai-Behan Maan Yojana, pledging that if the Mahagathbandhan comes to power in Bihar, every woman in the state would receive financial support of ₹2,500. This initiative, he claims, aims to empower women and tackle economic inequalities.

Furthermore, Tejashwi Yadav criticized the state government for enabling corruption and incompetence. He specifically pointed out the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC), alleging misconduct in its examinations.

“The mafia, shielded by the Nitish Kumar government, is orchestrating paper leaks,” he alleged.
