Tejashwi Yadav Critiques Bihar's Healthcare After Disturbing Gaya Video Emerges
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Patna, April 8 (NationPress) Tejashwi Yadav, the Leader of the Opposition in the Bihar Assembly, has fiercely criticized the state’s healthcare system following the circulation of a shocking video from Gaya.
The footage, originating from Anugrah Narayan Magadh Medical College Hospital, depicts a young man transporting his elderly grandmother on a scooter, highlighting the unavailability of stretchers or wheelchairs.
This alarming scene has ignited public outrage and raised critical concerns regarding the infrastructure of hospitals in Bihar.
In a post shared on X, Tejashwi Yadav took a poignant jab at the government and Health Minister Mangal Pandey, stating, “In Bihar’s healthcare facilities, some lack doctors, others lack basic supplies like cotton or needles; some are devoid of essential medicines or beds — and now, even wheelchairs are missing. Patients are resorting to using bicycles, cots, and scooters out of utter desperation.”
He further accused the current NDA administration of allowing the healthcare system to deteriorate completely.
Tejashwi questioned the essence of healthcare services in the state, asserting that simply erecting buildings and designating them as hospitals does not enhance medical care. “If there are no doctors, nurses, medications, or fundamental amenities, what makes it a hospital?” he queried.
He also criticized the government for prioritizing construction contracts over the improvement of healthcare services, warning that these institutions may become hollow structures devoid of necessary personnel and resources.
By targeting the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government, Tejashwi claimed that it remains indifferent to the hardships of the impoverished, focusing more on maintaining political power.
He also stated that government hospitals in Bihar have effectively become referral centers, directing patients toward private healthcare options.
Tejashwi asserted that initiatives implemented during his time in the Health Department have been disregarded, alleging that the system has again fallen prey to intermediaries and what he referred to as a medical mafia.
This viral video has escalated the political discourse surrounding Bihar’s healthcare system, renewing scrutiny over the gaps in infrastructure and service delivery within government hospitals.
