Tejashwi Challenges Nitish Kumar on Bihar's Low Per Capita Income After Two Decades in Office

Patna, Dec 20 (NationPress) Tejashwi Yadav, prominent leader of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), took aim at Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Friday, questioning the reason behind Bihar's lowest per capita income in the nation despite his two-decade tenure in office.
In a message posted on the social media platform X, Tejashwi, who serves as the Leader of the Opposition in the state Assembly, criticized the government for its alleged poor infrastructure, rampant corruption, unfilled government positions, and the necessity of the JD-U leader's proposed 'Pragati Yatra'.
He referred to CM Nitish's proposed Rs 225.78 crore 'Pragati Yatra' as a “Farewell Tour.”
“Why does Bihar fall behind on essential Human Development Index and Sustainable Development Index parameters according to NITI Aayog?” his post inquired.
Tejashwi highlighted that 90.5 percent of government schools in the state lack toilets for girls and dedicated buildings. He pointed out that while land is available, many schools with buildings are without boundary walls, jeopardizing safety and infrastructure.
He also mentioned that district hospitals, medical colleges, and sub-divisional hospitals are in a state of decline.
“When we assumed power in 2015, initiatives like Mission-Jammu, Mission Parivartan, and Mission Buniyad were launched, yet health services have greatly worsened,” claimed the RJD leader.
He accused police stations and administrative offices of bribery and bureaucratic inefficiency.
Furthermore, he noted that sugar mills across the state have faced closures during CM Nitish's administration.
“During the RJD government in 2015, a Cabinet decision was made to restart Riga Sugar Mill, but no progress has been made since,” he asserted.
Tejashwi demanded that CM Nitish apologize to the populace for the “governance failure.”
“Nitish Kumar must be held accountable for the systemic challenges in education, healthcare, law enforcement, and industrial development in Bihar,” Tejashwi stated.
“Why are there 25 lakh vacant government posts across various departments despite Nitish Kumar's lengthy time in office and extensive travels?” he questioned.
