Patna, April 24 (NationPress) RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav on Thursday launched a strong critique of both the Central and state governments, accusing them of systematically undermining local self-governance and neglecting the developmental requirements of Bihar.
During a Panchayati Raj Day event held at the party office in Patna, Tejashwi stated, "The Bihar government is engaged in efforts to intimidate Panchayats and strip them of their rights. The Mukhiya are facing threats, and a climate of fear has been fostered in various Panchayats across Bihar."
Tejashwi’s comments arrive concurrently with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Bihar, where he spoke at a rally in Madhubani on Panchayati Raj Day.
The former Deputy Chief Minister contended that elected officials at the grassroots level are being marginalized, and the concentration of power is undermining democracy within villages.
He further depicted a dire scenario for Bihar's socio-economic landscape: "Despite 20 years of NDA governance in Bihar and 11 years at the national level, Bihar remains the most backward state in India."
"An estimated three to four crore individuals have migrated. The per capita income is the lowest, agricultural earnings are dismal, and there’s a stark absence of industry or commerce in Bihar," claimed Tejashwi, who serves as the Leader of Opposition in the state Assembly.
He accused the Central government of exhibiting a stepmotherly attitude towards Bihar, particularly regarding the denial of special status.
In light of the forthcoming elections, Tejashwi urged RJD members to mobilize at the grassroots level and ridiculed CM Nitish with an agricultural analogy.
"If you plant the same seed for 20 years, the soil becomes barren. This government is no different. It’s time to uproot it," Tejashwi emphasized.
In conclusion, he remarked, "Everything has gone to Gujarat, while Bihar received minimal allocations in the Union Budget."
