Patna, July 11 (NationPress) Just a day after the Supreme Court advised the Election Commission of India to include Aadhaar cards, voter ID cards, ration cards, and other essential documents in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list in Bihar, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav expressed his approval of this development.
“I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the Supreme Court of India for its recommendation to the Election Commission. We have consistently raised similar concerns, questioning the exclusion of Aadhaar cards, ration cards, MNREGA job cards, and other documents from the voter list revision process. Now, the Supreme Court has resonated with our concerns, and we are truly thankful to the apex court,” stated Tejashwi Yadav.
The Supreme Court, during a hearing on Thursday, recommended that the Election Commission take these documents into consideration during the SIR process in Bihar to ease the process of voter verification.
CPI-ML National General Secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya also voiced his contentment regarding the Supreme Court’s involvement, emphasizing that it addresses the issues faced by the common voters in Bihar.
In the meantime, the SIR process is advancing swiftly in Bihar, with 74.39% of the 7.90 crore voters having submitted their enumeration forms to date.
During the second phase of the SIR, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) are making door-to-door visits to assist voters with filling out and submitting their forms.
Covering all assembly constituencies, 38 District Election Officers (DEOs), 243 Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), and 963 Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) are diligently overseeing the process on the ground.
The digitization and uploading of enumeration forms are proceeding efficiently, with 3.73 crore forms successfully digitized and uploaded via the BLO App and ECI Net in accordance with Para 3(h) of the SIR guidelines.
Since the issuance of SIR instructions on June 24, 2025, over 5.87 crore enumeration forms have been collected in just 17 days, representing 74.39% of the total target, showcasing the enthusiastic participation of voters ahead of the Bihar assembly elections.
