Patna, June 8 (NationPress) A new wave of political tension has emerged within the Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance) following comments from Congress' Bihar in-charge, Krishna Allavaru. He declared that Tejashwi Yadav is not the identified chief ministerial candidate for the alliance, but simply holds the role of Chairman of its Coordination Committee.
In a press briefing on Sunday, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav attempted to ease the situation, asserting, “There’s no reason for anyone to feel disturbed or anxious. Together, we will forge a brand new Bihar, and initiatives are already in progress.”
Allavaru's remarks, which came after Rahul Gandhi’s recent trip to Bihar, have reignited doubts regarding leadership clarity within the alliance.
“Tejashwi Yadav is not the CM face of the Grand Alliance. He has been appointed as the chairman of the coordination committee, and nothing beyond that,” Allavaru emphasized.
The RJD leader also expressed support for Rahul Gandhi’s claims of election manipulation, endorsing the Congress leader’s controversial statements.
“Rahul Gandhi has rightly articulated concerns. The conduct of the Election Commission validates such worries,” Yadav stated.
He recounted the previous Bihar Assembly elections, accusing the poll authority of misconduct.
“They halted counting during daylight and resumed it under the cover of night. Subsequently, they held three press briefings to explain it. If the Election Commission operates like a BJP cell, then questioning their actions is absolutely warranted,” he added.
The recent events highlight the increasing confusion and discord within the Grand Alliance ahead of the Assembly elections. While the RJD continues to champion Tejashwi Yadav as its chief ministerial candidate, the Congress seems reluctant to officially endorse him, likely to maintain influence in seat-sharing discussions.
As the opposition grapples with presenting a cohesive strategy, the NDA camp remains vigilant, with analysts suggesting that the ambiguity surrounding leadership could pose a significant challenge for the Mahagathbandhan as the elections approach.
