Did RJD Force Congress to Name Tejashwi as CM?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, Nov 2 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during a rally on Sunday, made a pointed remark about the 'Mahagathbandhan' (RJD-Congress-Left) highlighting the internal conflicts within the coalition. He asserted that the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) metaphorically placed a 'katta' (country-made gun) to Congress's head, coercing them into endorsing Tejashwi Yadav as their Chief Ministerial candidate.
This surprising accusation arose as PM Modi addressed a significant gathering in Bihar's Arrah district, drawing attention to the turbulent negotiations and disagreements that plagued the Mahagathbandhan before they finally reached a seat-sharing arrangement.
The Grand Alliance's seat-sharing deal was tainted by internal strife and stark disagreements, only being revealed just one day prior to the nominations' withdrawal.
The underlying issue appeared to revolve around the challenge of presenting a Chief Ministerial face ahead of the Bihar elections.
While Congress showed hesitance, the RJD remained adamant about naming Tejashwi as the alliance's Chief Ministerial contender.
During his speech, PM Modi remarked, “I have a secret to share about the disputes in the Mahagathbandhan, which surfaced right before the nomination withdrawals.”
He elaborated on the intense rivalry within the Mahagathbandhan, where both Congress and RJD were striving to surpass one another.
According to him, Congress was never in favor of finalizing RJD's leader as the Chief Ministerial candidate, yet the RJD managed to secure the position by putting pressure on Congress.
PM Modi further noted, “The animosity has escalated to such an extent that even after the elections, they will turn against each other.”
He cautioned the audience, “Such factions will never contribute positively to Bihar.”
In a stark contrast to the 'Jungle Raj' of the RJD period, he praised the NDA for presenting a transparent and forward-thinking manifesto aimed at Bihar's development. “Every promise in our manifesto is committed to accelerating Bihar’s progress,” he emphasized.
“On one hand lies the NDA's sincere manifesto, and on the other, the 'Jungle Raj' representatives. They have turned their manifesto into a collection of falsehoods and deception,” he concluded.
