As per the Chief Minister's Office, the rescheduled meeting will take place at 2 p.m. on July 28 at the Dr. BR Ambedkar Secretariat in Hyderabad.
This meeting was originally slated for 4 p.m. on Friday but was postponed due to the absence of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and several vital ministers, who are currently in Delhi.
Among those attending the Congress OBC Leadership Bhagidari Nyay Mahasammelan in the national capital are Backward Classes Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, Forest and Environment Minister Konda Surekha, and Animal Husbandry Minister Vakiti Srihari.
Also visiting Delhi are Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu and Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, who has spent the last two days in the capital, has yet to return.
On Thursday, Revanth Reddy, Vikramarka, and Uttam Kumar Reddy briefed senior Congress leaders about the caste census undertaken in the state, presenting it to Congress MPs as well.
The Chief Minister and his Cabinet members urged Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, and Mallikarjun Kharge, the Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha and AICC president, to apply pressure on the Centre to incorporate BC reservation Bills into the 9th Schedule of the Constitution.
In March, the State Assembly passed two Bills aimed at increasing reservation for BCs in education, employment, and local bodies to 42 percent and submitted them to the Centre for Presidential assent.
As the Centre has yet to provide its approval, the Congress party has called on its senior leadership to raise this matter during the ongoing Parliament session.
During its last meeting on July 10, the Telangana Cabinet decided to issue an ordinance to elevate BC reservations to 42 percent for the upcoming local body elections.
A draft ordinance has been sent to the Governor, but there has been no official update regarding its approval timeline.
The government must finalize reservation details for local body elections by the end of July, as mandated by the Telangana High Court, which has ordered that local body polls be conducted by September.
The upcoming Cabinet meeting is expected to address this issue and determine the next steps.
