Hyderabad, June 11 (NationPress) Just three days following the expansion of his Cabinet, Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy allocated portfolios to three newly-appointed Ministers on Wednesday.
G. Vivek Venkatswamy has been entrusted with the responsibilities of Labour, Employment, Training, Factories, and Mines and Geology.
Adluri Laxman Kumar will oversee the Scheduled Castes Development Department, Tribal Welfare Department, Minorities Welfare, Department for Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Senior Citizens, and Transgender Persons.
Vakiti Srihari will manage Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development, Fisheries, Sports, and Youth Services.
All these departments were previously managed by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy.
The Chief Minister retains key portfolios including Home, Law and Order, Municipal Administration, Urban Development, General Administration, and all other unallocated portfolios.
The announcement of portfolios came shortly after Revanth Reddy returned from Delhi, where he held discussions with Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and other senior party leaders.
Vivek Venkatswamy, Laxman Kumar, and Srihari were sworn in as Ministers by Governor Jishnu Dev Varma on June 8.
Vivek Venkatswamy, a former MP and son of the late Union Minister G. Venkatswamy, along with Government Whip Adluri Laxman, represent the Scheduled Castes, while Srihari belongs to the Backward Classes.
This marks the inaugural expansion of the Cabinet, which was initially formed on December 7, 2023, with the swearing-in of the Chief Minister and 11 Ministers.
The long-awaited expansion was made possible after the All India Congress Committee (AICC) approved the names of the three Ministers.
Despite existing vacancies in the Cabinet, party leadership decided to leave three positions unfilled.
The maximum number of Ministers allowed in the state is 18, including the Chief Minister.
This Cabinet expansion has left several aspirants within the ruling Congress feeling disappointed.
To address the unrest, Congress leadership intervened to soothe party MLAs who had reportedly threatened drastic measures over their exclusion.
AICC In-charge Meenakshi Natrajan and Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President Mahesh Kumar Goud worked to pacify MLAs like Sudershan Reddy and Malreddy Ranga Reddy.
