Hyderabad, Sep 10 (NationPress) Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy met with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi on Wednesday, urging him to transfer 98.20 acres of Defence land in Hyderabad to the state for the ambitious Gandhi Sarovar Project.

During their discussion, the Chief Minister informed the Defence Minister about the state's vision to create the “Gandhi Circle of Unity” at the merging point of the Musi and Esa rivers.

CM Revanth Reddy emphasized that the Gandhi Sarovar Project will serve as a lasting symbol of national integration and the enduring principles of Mahatma Gandhi.

In a previous meeting with Rajnath Singh in November, the Chief Minister had requested the transfer of 222.27 acres of defence land for the development of the Gandhi Sarovar project at Bapu Ghat.

The state intends to enhance Bapu Ghat, located at the confluence of the Esa and Musi Rivers, where Mahatma Gandhi’s ashes were immersed.

The land transfer is aimed at establishing a centre dedicated to promoting Gandhi's philosophy worldwide.

The Chief Minister elaborated on the various aspects of the Gandhi Sarovar project, which includes establishing a knowledge hub for Gandhi’s ideology, a meditation village, a handloom promotion centre, public recreational areas, a landscape park, a statue of peace, and a museum.

Additionally, the Chief Minister announced plans for the installation of the world’s tallest statue of Mahatma Gandhi at Bapu Ghat.

Furthermore, during his meeting with National Highways and Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, the Chief Minister requested approval for a 12-lane greenfield road network linking Bharat Future City to Bandaru Port via Amaravati.

He reminded the Union Minister that the development of this greenfield road, connecting the capital cities of the two Telugu States of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, was promised in the AP Reorganisation Act 2004. Given that Telangana lacks a seaport, the CM urged Gadkari to approve the greenfield road to streamline goods transportation from Hyderabad directly to the port.

CM Revanth Reddy informed the Union Minister that 118 km of this greenfield road would be located in Telangana, with the remaining portion in Andhra Pradesh.

Gadkari assured that he would send an official team to Hyderabad for a study on the Bharat Future City-Amaravati-Bandar Port Greenfield Road project. The Chief Minister also mentioned a review meeting scheduled in Hyderabad on September 22 with NHAI.
