Potential fertilizer shortage due to Middle East conflict Call for unity among political leaders Inauguration of a significant oil palm factory Commitment to support oil palm cultivation Women empowerment through ownership of RTC buses

Hyderabad, March 22 (NationPress) The ongoing turmoil in the Middle East threatens to cause a fertilizer shortage, warned Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy this past Sunday.

The Chief Minister urged relevant officials to persuade the Union government to allocate additional fertilizers to the state.

He emphasized that leaders from all political parties should meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to advocate for the highest possible allocation of urea for Telangana.

“This is not the moment for political maneuvering; we must move forward with harmony and unity. Politics should only occur during elections. After elections, our primary focus should be the development of our state,” he stated during a public gathering at Narmeta in Nangunur mandal, Siddipet district.

Alongside Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao and other officials, he inaugurated an oil palm factory.

This facility, situated on 32 acres, represents an investment of Rs 300 crore. He also laid the foundation stone for a refinery on the factory grounds, which will cost Rs 80 crore.

The palm oil factory at Narmeta is notable for being the first of its kind in the nation to be completed in just 16 months, with a crushing capacity ranging from 30 to 180 tonnes per hour.

The Chief Minister toured the various stalls set up for the ‘Rythu Mahotsavam’, highlighting advances in agricultural mechanization, practices for oil palm cultivation, and related sectors like horticulture, dairy, and fisheries.

He remarked that oil palm cultivation has expanded to cover 3 lakh acres in the state, asserting that even if the area dedicated to oil palm reaches one million acres, the government remains committed to purchasing the produce.

He also urged Agriculture Minister Nageswara Rao to consider establishing an oil palm processing facility in the Kodangal constituency.

The Chief Minister noted the high profitability associated with this form of agriculture.

In a pointed comment directed at BRS leader and MLA T. Harish Rao, whose constituency hosts the new oil palm factory, he clarified that the initiative is intended for the benefit of farmers, not merely for the local MLA.

The Chief Minister declared that the leader who defeats the BRS candidate in Siddipet during the next elections will be appointed to the state cabinet.

He highlighted that the constituency has been represented by members of the same family for over 30 years, urging the electorate to consider new leadership to effect change.

CM Revanth Reddy asserted that his government does not show favoritism. He accused the BRS administration of discrimination against his constituency, Kodangal, and expressed his readiness for a debate on this issue.

He reiterated that the Congress party is poised to retain power by securing a majority in the 2029 assembly elections.

Detailing various welfare and women empowerment initiatives launched by the government, the CM mentioned that free travel for women on RTC buses has been implemented.

Additionally, the government is empowering women by transferring ownership of the RTC bus fleet to them, aiming to uplift one crore women into millionaires.

CM Revanth Reddy instructed officials to boost the membership of women’s self-help groups in urban areas as well. The government has already disbursed Rs 57,000 crore in loans to these groups through bank linkages.

Point of View

The warnings from Telangana's CM underscore the interconnectedness of global events and local agriculture. As conflicts abroad can directly affect food security at home, proactive measures and political cooperation are essential for safeguarding farmers' interests.
