Hyderabad, Feb 18 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Telangana, A. Revanth Reddy, expressed his worries regarding the prevalence of fake news and asserted that misinformation on social media is causing disorder in society.
He urged the implementation of measures to combat economic crimes and false information by enhancing the cyber security framework.
Emphasizing that Telangana leads the nation in tackling cybercrime, he highlighted the necessity of further fortifying the cybercrime unit.
The Chief Minister inaugurated Shield 2025, a Cyber Security Conclave organized in collaboration with the Cyber Security Bureau, Cyberabad Police, and the Society for Cyberabad Security Council.
He affirmed the state government's dedication to positioning Telangana as the top state in the country regarding cyber safety.
He pointed out that the primary aim of the conclave is to deliberate on digital safety and formulate future action strategies.
Revanth Reddy expressed pleasure in meeting the police officers and cyber security professionals striving to elevate Telangana to the forefront of cyber safety.
The Chief Minister noted that cybercrime is a significant threat to both the economy and citizens, citing official data that indicated cybercriminals stole Rs 22,812 crore in the previous year.
"The state government is allocating necessary support and resources to collaborate with cyber specialists and IT firms to establish an ecosystem for developing cyber security solutions," he stated.
He claimed that Telangana is among a select few states that have set up a fully operational Cyber Security Bureau and a dedicated cybercrime helpline to safeguard citizens from cyber fraud and crimes.
Stressing the importance of making Telangana a secure business hub, he urged everyone to share the cyber helpline number (1930), which operates 24/7.
Mentioning that seven new dedicated cyber crime police stations were launched last year, he congratulated DGP Dr. Jitender and the Director of the Cyber Bureau for establishing these facilities.
The Chief Minister regarded the cyber security conference as crucial and noted that crime patterns are evolving swiftly. He stressed the importance of crafting diverse plans to address the challenges confronting society.
He asserted that preventing crime should take precedence over detaining criminals post-offense.
