Hyderabad, Oct 2 (NationPress) A member of the ruling Congress party in Telangana has ignited controversy with his comments, allegedly expressing a desire for the demise of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Bhupathi Reddy, who represents the Nizamabad Rural constituency in the Telangana Assembly, questioned the longevity of Prime Minister Modi's life.
In a video clip circulated by BJP leaders on social media on Thursday, the MLA can be heard making these contentious statements.
"They often refer to Rama as if he exists solely because of them. As if their departure would also mean the end of Rama," the MLA stated in Telugu.
"If Modi were to die, would Rama vanish? How many more days does Modi have left? He is already 75 years old," Bhupathi Reddy remarked.
The MLA reportedly delivered these comments at an event in his constituency about a week prior.
The BJP has vehemently condemned the remarks made by the Congress MLA, labeling them as "shocking" and "insensitive."
"Bhagwan Shri Ram represents the eternal spirit of India's civilizational pride and cultural legacy. The disgraceful comments by Telangana Congress MLA Bhupati are not merely an individual outburst but reflect Congress's deep-seated disdain for Hindu sentiments. By continuously attacking Bhagwan Shri Ram and mocking the beliefs of millions of Indians, Congress reveals its anti-Hindu ideology and its politics of appeasement," the BJP stated in a post.
"Let’s come together to combat Congress’s divisive and detrimental agenda in Telangana and across Bharat," they added.
Telangana BJP spokesperson Rachna Reddy commented that the MLA's statements illustrate the Congress party's frustration.
Previously, the MLA had used offensive language against actor Allu Arjun and threatened to not tolerate any criticism of the state government and Chief Minister Revanth Reddy.
