Hyderabad, Feb 27 (NationPress) Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy announced on Thursday the creation of a committee comprising legal experts to address ongoing legal disputes concerning outstanding projects of Dubai-based Emaar Properties.
This initiative complements a previous committee established by the former government back in 2015, led by the Chief Secretary, aimed at resolving matters related to Emaar Properties.
The decision arose after Emaar Properties' management reached out to the state government to deliberate on resolving disputes regarding the company's unfinished projects in various legal contexts.
During a meeting at the Secretariat, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Industries Minister Sridhar Babu engaged with representatives from Emaar.
Notable attendees included Emaar Founder and Managing Director Mohammed Alabbar, former UAE Ambassador to India Dr. Ahmed Al Banna, Emaar Group CEO Amit Jain, and the company's head of International Affairs Mustafa Akram.
Other key officials present were Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari, Advocate General Sudarshan Reddy, Special Chief Secretary for Industries Jayesh Ranjan, Special Chief Secretary for Finance Ramakrishna Rao, CMO Secretary Seshadri, Special Secretary to the CM Ajith Reddy, TGIIC MD Vishnuvardhan Reddy, and Law Secretary Tirupati.
Emaar Properties initially entered into agreements in 2001 with the then-state government for investments in projects including a convention centre, hotel, golf course, villas, and more in Hyderabad during the time of united Andhra Pradesh. Subsequently, the CBI and ED initiated cases concerning alleged irregularities in the agreements made with APIIC. Investigations and court hearings are currently ongoing.
Following the establishment of Telangana, the previous BRS government set up a five-member Secretary-level committee, chaired by the Chief Secretary, to tackle disputes related to Emaar Properties' projects in October 2015.
According to the CMO, the Ministry of External Affairs and the Solicitor General of India have also provided multiple recommendations to the state regarding this issue.
During the meeting with Emaar, officials briefed the Chief Minister on these matters.
Given that the cases under investigation involve legal complexities, CM Revanth Reddy has directed officials to meticulously review Emaar's agreement documents, court case details, and directives from the Central government.
The Chief Minister has also approved the company's suggestion to establish a legal agency, with the UAE government's consent, to analyze the legal disputes and search for a peaceful resolution. The CM indicated that the government-formed committee will consult with them for further recommendations and guidance.
