Hyderabad, April 19 (NationPress) During a recent meeting at Lok Bhavan, Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla proposed that schools and colleges require students to sign a pledge upon admission, vowing to avoid drug use. This initiative aims to bolster awareness regarding the perils of substance abuse.
In discussions with Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and state minister D. Sridhar Babu, the Governor highlighted the importance of establishing drug-free educational environments as a primary focus. He underlined the necessity of raising awareness among students about the risks associated with drug abuse and advocated for the implementation of effective strategies to combat substance use in educational settings.
The Governor also suggested that a formal anti-drug pledge be included in awareness campaigns, with an upcoming awareness event slated for June 12 at LB Stadium, which he will lead.
In response, the Chief Minister assured the Governor that all recommendations would be thoroughly evaluated and appropriate measures taken. The meeting also served as a courtesy visit, attended by Member of Parliament Vem Narender Reddy.
