Hyderabad, Feb 11 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Telangana, A. Revanth Reddy, along with Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, participated in the municipal elections by casting their votes on Wednesday.
The Chief Minister arrived in Kodangal within the Vikarabad district via helicopter from Hyderabad and voted at a polling station located in the Zilla Parishad High School.
He, representing the Kodangal Assembly constituency, exercised his voting rights in the elections for the Kodangal municipality.
Following his trip back to Hyderabad from Kodangal, the Chief Minister is set to travel to New Delhi for meetings with senior Congress leaders.
Polling was actively taking place for municipal elections across 116 municipalities and seven corporations in Telangana, under stringent security measures.
The Deputy Chief Minister cast his vote in Madhira municipality situated in Khammam district.
Other ministers also voted in their respective districts, with Labour Minister G. Vivek voting in Mancherial.
The President of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) voted at a polling center in Nizamabad.
BJP MP D. Arvind also participated by casting his vote for the Nizamabad Municipal Corporation.
Polling, which commenced at 7 a.m. across 8,191 polling stations, is scheduled to close at 5 p.m..
A total of 52,17,413 voters are eligible to vote in 2,981 wards across 123 urban local bodies.
The State Election Commission has assigned 1,379 Returning Officers and 41,773 polling staff for the voting process, along with arrangements for webcasting at all polling centers.
The State Election Commissioner Rani Kumudini has urged all eligible voters to participate, stating that voter slips can be downloaded through the SEC website or the TE-POLL app.
A total of 12,944 candidates are contesting in these elections.
Polling is taking place for 2,569 wards in 116 municipalities, with twelve candidates in nine municipalities already elected unopposed.
In total, 10,719 candidates are competing in 116 municipalities, including 2,358 candidates from the ruling Congress party, 2,478 from Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), and 2,252 from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Polling is also being conducted for 412 wards in seven municipal corporations, with candidates in two wards in both Mahabubnagar and Ramagundam elected unopposed.
Authorities have established 2,174 polling centers in these corporations, with 2,225 candidates contesting, including 410 from Congress, 401 from BRS, and 382 from BJP.
