Hyderabad, Oct 17 (NationPress) The government of Telangana has announced the release of tenders for the development of rural roads, amounting to Rs 6,294 crore under the Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM).
The Panchayat Raj Engineering Department released tenders for the construction of 2,162 roads on Friday.
Construction firms are invited to submit their proposals for these roads, with a completion target of 30 months and an additional 15 years for maintenance.
This initiative will be executed in 17 packages, involving a total of 7,449.50 km of roads across 96 constituencies.
According to the HAM model, the government will cover 40% of the project costs during construction, while the remaining 60% will be financed by contractors through banks. The contractors will also handle maintenance for 15 years after the initial construction period.
Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister Danasari Anasuya Seethakka stated that this HAM initiative will greatly enhance rural road infrastructure and invigorate the rural economy. This flagship programme is designed to revamp rural roads and bolster transportation.
The state government has embarked on this ambitious project, which encompasses the construction, upgrade, and maintenance of roads linking Gram Panchayats (GPs) to mandal headquarters, mandal headquarters to district headquarters, and from district headquarters to the State headquarters.
Recently, the State Cabinet endorsed the Roads and Buildings Department's proposal to issue tenders for the construction of roads totaling 5,566 km at a cost of Rs 10,547 crore under the HAM framework.
Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy highlighted that under the visionary guidance of the Chief Minister, Telangana’s road infrastructure is poised for revolutionary enhancements. He expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and fellow cabinet members for their support in approving this initiative.
“We are determined to construct smooth, mirror-like roads throughout the state over the next 30 months and set an example for the country,” he affirmed.
The minister announced that the tendering process for these projects will commence within a week. “We are launching initiatives across 32 packages. In the initial phase, we are prioritizing 10 packages to start immediately. Over the next three years, every major highway in Telangana will exemplify quality, durability, and aesthetics for the entire nation,” he added.
