Hyderabad, Feb 1 (NationPress) A significant injustice has been inflicted upon Telangana in the Union Budget 2025-26 unveiled in Parliament on Saturday, stated Congress state President Mahesh Kumar Goud.
He informed reporters that Telangana received a ‘zero’ allocation in the Budget presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
Goud pointed out that although Sitharaman is a Telugu daughter-in-law, she has failed to support Telangana in this Budget.
He accused the BJP of showing partiality against Telangana and attempting to harm the state's political stature.
He remarked that with elections approaching in Bihar, the BJP has leveraged the Union Budget for political gain in that region.
Goud questioned the status of the commitments made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP officials to Telangana during the electoral campaigns.
The state Congress President mentioned that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, ministers, and MPs had met with Prime Minister Modi and other Central ministers to advocate for various state issues, including the establishment of a steel plant and IIM, but these appeals yielded no positive outcomes.
Minister for Environment and Forests Konda Surekha expressed her discontent regarding the Union Budget, indicating that there has been an inadequate allocation of funds for Telangana. She claimed the Centre has neglected the requests and disregarded the assurances made to the residents of Telangana.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy convened a meeting with his Cabinet colleagues to evaluate the Union Budget and its anticipated effects on the state Budget for 2025-26.
