Hyderabad, Feb 1 (NationPress) Working President of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), K.T. Rama Rao, has sharply criticized the Union Budget for 2025-26, charging that both the BJP and Congress have neglected Telangana's needs.
He called for an apology from the BJP and Congress for their failure to support the state, asserting that it is now evident that national parties are incapable of championing Telangana's interests.
K.T. Rama Rao, widely known as KTR, emphasized that despite Telangana having sent 16 Members of Parliament—eight from BJP and eight from Congress—to the national assembly, the state has received 'absolutely nothing' in the recent budget.
He accused Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy of making backdoor deals with the BJP, which has resulted in the state being overlooked in federal funding.
KTR criticized the BJP-led central government for giving preference to states governed by the BJP in budget distributions, thereby marginalizing Telangana.
He pointed out that BJP representatives from other regions have successfully secured significant funds for their states, while the BJP MPs and ministers from Telangana have failed to make an impact.
He further stated, 'The claim of the BJP's 'double-engine' government has been revealed as a sham. Despite having eight BJP MPs and two union ministers, Telangana has not received any financial support.'
Additionally, KTR accused Revanth Reddy of visiting Delhi multiple times for personal political gain rather than for the benefit of Telangana, claiming that even with eight Congress MPs, they have not brought any financial allocations to the state and have not effectively raised Telangana's issues in Parliament.
He also condemned the central government for overlooking Telangana in vital sectors like higher educational institutions (such as IIT, IIM, IISER, NID, IIIT) and for failing to implement promises made in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act, including establishing the Bayyaram Steel Plant and granting national status to irrigation projects.
KTR is convinced that the people of Telangana have come to recognize the significance of regional parties in advocating for state rights, referencing Bihar and Andhra Pradesh as instances where regional parties have gained traction in budget matters.
He accused the BJP of misleading Telangana while providing major budgetary benefits to Bihar, which is approaching elections.
He stressed that the BJP’s disregard for Southern states, despite their considerable contributions to the national economy, contradicts the essence of federalism.
'The discriminatory stance of the central government towards Telangana has once again been laid bare in this budget.'
