Hyderabad, June 29 (NationPress) Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K.T. Rama Rao on Sunday questioned why the BJP-led government at the Centre has not initiated an investigation into the corruption claims against the Congress government in Telangana.

Shortly after Union Home Minister Amit Shah asserted at a public gathering in Nizamabad that the Congress government in Telangana has turned into an 'ATM' for the Congress leadership, Rama Rao sought to understand the reasons behind the Centre's inaction. “What is preventing the Centre from launching a probe via the CBI or ED?” he queried, as KTR, as he is commonly referred to, pushed for accountability.

Alleging a hidden alliance between the BJP and Congress, KTR stated, “In Delhi, they engage in a staged conflict. However, in Telangana, they make covert agreements. Is BJP protecting Revanth Reddy because it cannot confront BRS independently?”

He reminded that even Prime Minister Narendra Modi had previously accused the Congress of orchestrating a “RR Tax” scam in Telangana, yet no investigation has been pursued. “If allegations are only made during visits while the Congress is allowed to exploit resources in plain sight, what message does that send to the public?” he questioned.

The BRS leader also expressed strong disapproval of what he termed an orchestrated campaign to tarnish the reputation of the Kaleshwaram Project, which has been crucial in positioning Telangana as the leading rice-producing state in the country. “It's regrettable that a significant irrigation project like Kaleshwaram is being targeted for political advantage,” he remarked.

Addressing the BJP's development track record in the region, KTR highlighted, “Despite having eight BJP MPs and two Union Ministers from Telangana, not a single project has received national status. No IIT, IIM, or central medical institute has been established. This ongoing discrimination has not gone unnoticed.”

He also mocked the Centre’s repeated “launches” of the Turmeric Board, noting that Union Minister Piyush Goyal had already virtually inaugurated it earlier this year. “Now, Amit Shah is cutting ribbons for the same office established in a building constructed by former Chief Minister KCR. Not a single rupee has been allocated in the budget. A permanent building for it hasn’t even been approved,” KTR remarked.

The BRS leader further accused the BJP of betraying Telangana through numerous actions. He cited the abandonment of the Bayyaram Steel Plant, which was intended to create jobs for tribal youth, the cancellation of Hyderabad’s ITIR project, which could have been transformative, and the advancement of Andhra Pradesh’s Banakacharla project, simultaneously restricting Telangana farmers’ water rights and privatizing operations of the Kazipet Coach Factory, ultimately shattering employment hopes for youth in Warangal.

“Since the BJP came to power at the Centre, it has treated Telangana with hostility. The populace has turned against them before and will continue to do so,” he concluded.
