Hyderabad, Jan 27 (NationPress) Employees of the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) issued a strike notice to management on Monday, demanding the fulfillment of prior commitments.

The RTC Joint Action Committee (JAC), which represents multiple employee unions, submitted a memorandum outlining 21 key demands. They warned that failure to address these issues would lead to a strike. Key demands include the integration of RTC employees into the government and the execution of two Pay Revision Commissions.

The JAC also called for the disbursement of Rs.2,700 crore in CCS and PF arrears. JAC leaders accused the government of attempting to privatize the RTC, insisting on the execution of pledges made in the election manifesto.

The unions expressed concern that the operation of electric buses has been outsourced to a private entity and urged the government to take control of electric bus procurement. Additionally, they are advocating for the reinstatement of elections for trade unions, claiming that the government has dissolved trade unions and extended employee working hours.

The JAC emphasized that their goal is not to disrupt public transport but to enhance services for commuters by strengthening the organization. They have sought a salary adjustment since 2021 and aspire to be regarded equally with government employees. Moreover, retired staff are still awaiting outstanding payments, including CCS, PF arrears, and DA payments.

Furthermore, employees demand the unimpeded right to form trade unions. This marks the first strike preparation for RTC employees in over five years.

In 2019, employees undertook a historic 52-day strike involving nearly 50,000 participants, advocating for 26 demands such as the merger of RTC with the state government, job security for bus drivers and conductors, and the filling of vacancies.
