Mumbai, Aug 20 (NationPress) In a pointed remark aimed at the Shiv Sena (UBT) and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) coalition, BJP MLA Ram Kadam declared on Wednesday that the Thackeray brothers — Uddhav and Raj — will "once again score zero" in future elections, following their total defeat in the BEST Employees' Cooperative Credit Society polls.
The alliance did not manage to secure a single seat out of the 21 seats available in this significant election, which represents the employees of Mumbai’s public transport service.
In an interview with IANS, Ram Kadam stated, "It was anticipated that they would achieve significant victories. However, when the Thackeray brothers contested together, the outcome was — zero. In the BEST Credit Society election, they received nothing. Similarly, in the upcoming elections, they will again receive zero. Voters choose those who work for them, and under Devendra Fadnavis's leadership, Maharashtra has witnessed development. The MahaYuti will maintain its winning momentum."
Kadam further asserted that the public has already observed the repercussions of Thackeray brothers' governance, stating, "This result mirrors their political relevance — which is zero."
Kadam also commented on the INDIA Bloc’s recent decision to nominate former Supreme Court judge B. Sudershan Reddy as their joint Opposition candidate for the vice presidential election.
"The Vice President’s position holds significant respect. The INDIA Bloc is aware that their candidate is likely to lose. Elections are determined by numbers, and we hold the majority. Had they not nominated a candidate, it would have sent a powerful message globally that ruling and Opposition parties can unite on national or constitutional issues. Yet again, the Opposition has opted for trivial politics," he added.
Earlier that day, C.P. Radhakrishnan, the NDA candidate for the Vice-Presidential elections, filed his nomination papers, initiating the process for the crucial elections.
Kadam also condemned the attack on Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta during a public hearing at her Civil Lines residence on Wednesday morning. The Chief Minister reportedly sustained injuries to her head and hand after being assaulted by a man in his 40s during a ‘Jan Sunwai’ session.
"This is a distressing incident, and I unequivocally condemn it. Who was the assailant? Who orchestrated this? These are questions that need addressing. The police must conduct a thorough investigation, and those responsible must face justice," Kadam stated.
Delhi ministers claimed the attacker had been surveilling Gupta’s residence for over 24 hours and had recorded videos of the area. The assailant, identified as 41-year-old Rajesh from Rajkot, Gujarat, was apprehended shortly after the incident.
