Mumbai, March 18 (NationPress) Shiv Sena-UBT President Uddhav Thackeray on Tuesday criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) amidst the rising calls for the removal of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb's grave, questioning the ruling party, "What is your relationship with Aurangzeb?"
"If those advocating for the uprooting of Aurangzeb's grave are merely venting or staging protests, then we have a serious issue at hand. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has claimed he cannot remove the grave due to its protection by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). If the Central government is committed to preserving Aurangzeb's grave, we urge the BJP to clarify their connection to him," Thackeray stated.
He accused the BJP of engaging in dirty politics, asserting, "Rahul Solapurkar, Prashant Koratkar, and former Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari have insulted Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, yet no action was taken. Instead, riots are being incited over Aurangzeb."
Thackeray also criticized BJP MP Pradeep Purohit for his remarks comparing Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in a past life.
"The BJP compares Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj to anyone. If anyone insults him publicly, such incidents will cease to occur in the future," he remarked.
Thackeray emphasized, "Aurangzeb and Afzal Khan symbolize the strength of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. If you wish to eliminate them, approach the government and PM Modi to destroy Aurangzeb's grave. When you conduct this ceremony, invite N. Chandrababu Naidu and Nitish Kumar as chief guests."
Addressing the recent violence in Nagpur, the Shiv Sena-UBT President stated, "Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj battled against Aurangzeb, who hailed from Gujarat, and established Hindavi Swarajya by defeating him. Following Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's death, Aurangzeb attempted to conquer Maharashtra but failed. Inspired by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, Rajaram Maharaj, Maharani Tara Rani, and countless Mavlas continued the quest for Swarajya. In essence, Aurangzeb, born in Gujarat, could never overcome Maharashtra's soil. No admirer of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj will support Aurangzeb.
