The Global Rhythm is Irreplaceable: Gautam Adani Reflects on the Loss of Zakir Hussain

New Delhi, Dec 15 (NationPress) Notable business figures expressed their grief on Sunday following the passing of 73-year-old tabla virtuoso Zakir Hussain, declaring that the rhythm of India has come to a halt.
The Chairman of the Adani Group, Gautam Adani, shared on the X social media platform that “the world has lost a rhythm it can never replace.”
“Ustad Zakir Hussain, our maestro whose tabla beats will eternally resonate in the heart of India, leaves behind his unmatched form of timeless artistry. His legacy is an everlasting 'taal', echoing through generations to come. Rest in Peace,” wrote Gautam Adani.
Hussain was taken to the ICU of a hospital in San Francisco, USA, due to a heart-related issue. Throughout his illustrious career, he garnered five Grammy Awards, including three at the recent 66th Grammy Awards.
“The rhythm of India has paused today. In homage,” wrote Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra.
Hussain's manager, Nirmala Bachani, stated that the maestro was facing challenges related to high blood pressure.
Chairman of RPG Enterprises Harsh Goenka mentioned on the X social media platform that “the world falls silent as the tabla loses its maestro.”
“Ustad Zakir Hussain, a rhythmic genius who brought India's essence to international stages, has departed. I had the honor of knowing him through his association with HMV and hearing him perform at our residence. His beats will resonate forever,” Goenka wrote.
Born in Bombay as the eldest son of the legendary tabla player Allah Rakha, Zakir Hussain followed in his father's footsteps, becoming a prominent figure in India and worldwide.
This celebrated percussionist, among India's most esteemed classical musicians, was awarded the Padma Shri in 1988, the Padma Bhushan in 2002, and the Padma Vibhushan in 2023.
Throughout a career spanning six decades, he collaborated with numerous esteemed international and Indian artists.
