Karnal, April 28 (NationPress) Farmer leader Rakesh Tikait on Monday urged for a comprehensive and transparent inquiry into the Pahalgam terror attack, emphasizing the need to identify who benefitted from the incident, asserting that all details must be revealed.

He reiterated that the nation stands united with the government on this critical matter.

“The Pahalgam attack necessitates an in-depth investigation. Who profited from this assault? Who faced the consequences? Law enforcement and investigative bodies must seek these answers. There has evidently been a security breach that requires scrutiny. All information should be presented to the public. We are standing in solidarity with the government on this issue,” Rakesh Tikait told IANS.

When asked about the potential for insider involvement in the attack, Tikait remarked that such incidents rarely occur without internal assistance, suggesting that someone must have directed the attackers, providing them with routes, conducting reconnaissance, and planning the operation.

“If reports indicate that individuals were targeted based on their religion, we must inquire: who gained and who suffered? The government should explore these aspects as well,” he insisted.

In response to speculation regarding political motivations behind the terror attack, Tikait stated, “All possibilities should be scrutinized. Politics can sometimes fuel such events. We do not make claims, but numerous scenarios exist. The government must take firm and thorough actions, and we fully support such measures.”

Tikait also discussed the ongoing conversation about halting the Indus River's water flow towards Pakistan, advocating that the government should adhere to its strategy.

“These are international issues, yet applying pressure can sometimes be essential for achieving outcomes,” he commented.

Regarding whether India possesses the capability to reclaim Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) or if such discussions are mere political posturing, Tikait said: “Give it a shot. I met a woman from PoK expressing her desire to return to India due to dire conditions there. Those who departed are still referred to as refugees. A strong message needs to be conveyed.”

Concerning the FIR filed against folk singer Neha Singh Rathore in Uttar Pradesh for allegedly posting 'objectionable' content on social media regarding the Pahalgam attack, Tikait voiced his concern.

Rathore reportedly criticized the government, implying that the attack was a consequence of security failures and would be politicized in the upcoming Bihar elections.

Tikait remarked that speaking the truth has regrettably become a punishable offense.

“We are not alone in voicing this; the entire nation is. However, this matter too requires a thorough investigation. The government should take swift and decisive actions. In Uttar Pradesh, for instance, when a theft or crime occurs, the perpetrators are often caught quickly. Similarly, the government should act resolutely and deliver tangible outcomes,” he asserted.
