Nagpur, April 28 (NationPress) Maharashtra Congress Legislature Party leader Vijay Wadettiwar ignited controversy on Monday by questioning the targeting of Hindus in the Pahalgam terror attack, asking if terrorists truly have the time to inquire about the victims' religious identities.

“The government must be held accountable for the Pahalgam terrorist attack. Authorities claim that terrorists killed individuals after asking them about their religion. Do these terrorists have time for such inquiries? Some argue that this never occurred. Terrorists possess no caste or religion. We must apprehend those responsible and take decisive action. This reflects the sentiment of our nation,” he stated.

He later elaborated, “The principal goal of the terrorist attack in Pahalgam is to create division between religions, disrupt India's unity, and incite instability within the country. The strictest measures should be enforced against terrorists and their supporters. The Congress party will back any actions taken by the government. It is crucial to dismantle such anti-national tendencies for India’s integrity and national security. India is one and shall remain united.”

Wadettiwar emphasized that the Congress party has unequivocally condemned the terror attack on innocent tourists in Pahalgam, asserting it was a Pakistan-sponsored terrorist act. The party has called for stringent actions against those responsible and for the total eradication of terrorism.

“The collective demand of ordinary Indians, including myself, is the complete annihilation of terrorists who perpetrate cowardly attacks on innocent citizens. The tragic assault on civilians in Pahalgam is deeply distressing and infuriating. I trust that our valiant soldiers will respond decisively to this cowardly act,” he remarked.

Wadettiwar accused Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy CM Eknath Shinde, and the Mahayuti ministers of indulging in a credit dispute over the evacuation of tourists from Kashmir following the terror attack.

Referencing a statement by Shiv Sena MP Naresh Mhaske, who claimed Eknath Shinde facilitated air travel for those who have never flown, he questioned, “What is this all about? Has no one recognized who deserves credit? Is it more important to please tourists or to take credit for their return by plane?”

“Tourists from Maharashtra lost their lives in Pahalgam, while others were injured or stranded. Instead of providing support, there was a race to see who would arrive first. The Deputy Chief Minister visited Kashmir unnecessarily. Furthermore, the Shinde Sena MP told reporters about their contributions to the tourists from Maharashtra. All ministers and MPs in the Mahayuti government have forsaken their sense of duty! At least during such crises, cease self-promotion,” he concluded.

Point of View

It is crucial to recognize the complexity of terrorism and its impact on societal unity. Vijay Wadettiwar’s remarks highlight the importance of accountability and a united response against acts of violence, irrespective of the religious identities involved. The call for action against terrorism aligns with the overarching need for national integrity and security, reinforcing that our strength lies in solidarity.
