Bhubaneswar, Jan 2 (NationPress) Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi urged the Vigilance Department to maintain its momentum in the fight against corruption, emphasizing that Odisha is ready to set a precedent in eradicating corrupt practices among government officials.
The Chief Minister expressed these thoughts during a high-level review session held at Lok Seva Bhawan.
As per an official communication from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), Majhi confirmed that the state administration would review the necessities of the Odisha Vigilance, which include enhancing capacity, recruitment, and addressing vacant positions, and will make timely decisions.
During the meeting, it was noted that the government had referred a record 125 corruption cases to the Vigilance Department for scrutiny from April 1 to December 31, 2025.
The CMO highlighted that this was the highest number of cases assigned for investigation within a nine-month timeframe in the state's history.
The review also uncovered that a total of 488 corruption cases were resolved in 2025, with disproportionate asset (DA) cases being the most prevalent.
In fact, 173 DA cases were resolved during the year, marking a record achievement.
The Vigilance Department intensified its enforcement operations, conducting raids at 487 sites across the state and taking action against cases of disproportionate assets and bribery.
In this crackdown, 1,199 bank accounts tied to corrupt officials were frozen, and substantial assets were confiscated, including 153 buildings, 417 plots of land, 12 farmhouses, and 18.3 kilograms of gold.
Moreover, deposits totaling Rs 36.69 crore and cash amounting to Rs 8.8 crore were also seized.
The CMO announced that due to advancements in infrastructure and enhanced training quality, the State Vigilance Academy has received the ISO 9001:2015 certification for three years.
The Chief Minister commended both the State Vigilance Academy and the Vigilance Department for their remarkable achievement.
