Chennai, July 6 (NationPress) After a span of 16 years, the momentous consecration ceremony of the Tiruchendur Murugan Temple located in Tamil Nadu's Thoothukudi district is scheduled for Monday.
Extensive preparations are underway by the district administration, in collaboration with the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) Department, to ensure a seamless and secure occasion.
The consecration rituals commenced on July 1 with the Yagasala poojas inside the temple grounds. The principal Kumbabishekam ceremony will take place between 6.15 a.m. and 6.50 a.m. on Monday. The previous consecration was conducted in 2009.
Tiruchendur, esteemed as the second of Lord Murugan’s six abodes (Arupadai Veedu), is anticipated to witness an enormous influx of devotees from across the state. To manage the crowd and bolster security during this auspicious occasion, the police have implemented advanced surveillance strategies.
Three four-wheeled patrol vehicles outfitted with 360-degree cameras, ten GPS-enabled bikes, and a drone surveillance system have been deployed to monitor the temple town. These patrol units will be tracked in real-time from a central control room, manned continuously by police personnel on rotational shifts.
On Saturday, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) S. Davidson Devasirvatham inaugurated the new patrol vehicles in Tiruchendur, accompanied by Deputy Inspector General of Police (in-charge) Tirunelveli Range Santosh Hadimani, Thoothukudi Superintendent of Police Albert John, Tiruchendur DSP Mahesh Kumar, and Thoothukudi ASP C. Madhan.
ADGP Devasirvatham also conducted a review meeting with officials to evaluate the preparedness and oversee the security measures.
In a distinctive initiative, drones have been prepared to sprinkle holy water over the gathered devotees during the ritual, adding a contemporary element to this traditional practice.
To cater to the anticipated surge of devotees, the district administration has arranged for essential amenities such as drinking water, public sanitation, and food distribution. Parking provisions have been made at three designated sites to alleviate traffic congestion.
Moreover, giant LED screens have been installed at various locations to enable devotees to observe the Kumbabishekam rituals from afar.
Officials have stated that every effort is being made to ensure the safety, comfort, and spiritual satisfaction of the devotees participating in this sacred event.
