Chennai, June 29 (NationPress) The president of Tamil Nadu BJP, Nainar Nagendran, announced on Sunday that statewide protests are set for July 1 to denounce the offensive and crude language employed by Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) MP A. Raja against Union Home Minister Amit Shah at a recent public gathering.

Nagendran pointed out to reporters that A. Raja had previously spent time in Delhi's Tihar Jail as a key accused in the 2G spectrum allocation case, which the Comptroller and Auditor General once indicated led to a suspected loss of Rs 1.76 lakh crore to the government.

While Raja was cleared by a trial court in 2017, appeals from federal agencies are still awaiting resolution at the Delhi High Court.

"Someone who has been confronted with such serious allegations should demonstrate greater humility instead of directing insults at constitutional authorities," stated the BJP leader.

Nagendran accused the ruling DMK of ignoring recurring instances of intemperate speech by its senior members.

"If the ruling party believes it can speak without facing repercussions, it is gravely mistaken. Such vitriol undermines democratic principles and fosters public discontent," he cautioned, urging Chief Minister M. K. Stalin to control his party associates.

As per the announced schedule, seven simultaneous protests will occur—one in each police district formed from the Chennai metropolitan area.

Senior state office-bearers, district heads, and leaders of the party's frontal organizations will lead the rallies, which are anticipated to attract thousands of workers, supporters, and members of the community.

Petitions seeking legal action against A. Raja will be submitted to local authorities at each protest site.

The BJP has already filed a formal complaint with the Chennai Police Commissioner, requesting the initiation of legal proceedings under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.

Nagendran hinted at a potential “escalated agitation calendar” if no actions are taken.

"If the DMK continues its anarchic behavior, the BJP will have no choice but to engage in prolonged protests," he stated.

DMK representatives were not immediately reachable for comments at the time of this report.

Point of View

It is crucial to recognize the significance of political accountability and the role language plays in shaping public discourse.
