Chennai, Sep 14 (NationPress) The Tamil Nadu Municipal Administration Minister K.N. Nehru has called upon party officials and coordinators involved in the 'Oraniyil Tamil Nadu' initiative to gather newly-inducted members for a meeting on September 15, which coincides with the birth anniversary of former Chief Minister C.N. Annadurai.
Speaking to DMK workers in Tiruchirappalli, Minister Nehru emphasized that these gatherings should be held at school grounds or community halls, ensuring no disruption to the public.
He instructed each booth in-charge to ensure at least 100 new members attend the meetings and pledge to protect the rights of Tamil Nadu.
Highlighting the significance of political discipline, Nehru reminded the cadres that Chief Minister and DMK president M.K. Stalin had advised against criticizing rival parties, urging them to campaign with restraint and dedication, promising that such an approach would lead to success in the upcoming Assembly elections.
Nehru pointed out the party's strength in the central districts, noting that there are 11,000 booths in the region, including 860 in Tiruchirappalli district alone.
He revealed that union secretaries would soon receive booklets to check details in the voters' list and prepare for the Special Intensive Revision drive that the Election Commission will undertake in Tamil Nadu.
He encouraged party members to fulfill their responsibilities under the 'Oraniyil Tamil Nadu' initiative launched by CM Stalin and to work with utmost commitment in the coming months.
Nehru also invited all cadres to participate in the 'Mupperum Vizha' scheduled in Karur on September 17, which commemorates the birth anniversaries of social reformer Periyar E.V. Ramasamy and Anna, as well as the founding of the DMK in 1949. He emphasized that the event, introduced by former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi, should be a resounding success, with every worker contributing to its organization.
The minister characterized the Karur celebration as a pivotal moment to demonstrate the party's unity and strength, serving as a platform to reaffirm its determination ahead of the 2026 Assembly polls.
He stressed that no cadre should miss this opportunity, as it will showcase the DMK's organizational strength and ideological commitment.
