Srinagar, November 15 (NationPress) The Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), Manoj Sinha, paid a visit to the hospital on Saturday to meet with individuals who sustained injuries from the recent accidental blast at the Nowgam Police Station.
The LG visited the Ujala Cygnus hospital located in the Nowgam area, where he inquired about the health status of the victims and promised them all necessary support.
Manoj Sinha arrived in Srinagar in the afternoon from Jammu following the explosion that occurred inside the Nowgam Police Station, which tragically resulted in the deaths of 9 individuals and left 29 others injured.
He is scheduled to visit the Police Control Room in Srinagar to honor those who lost their lives during a wreath-laying ceremony.
The ceremony will be led by the DG NIA, J&K DGP, along with senior officers from the Army and police.
The police department has released the names of the 9 deceased from the Nowgam blast, which include: SIA Inspector Asrar Ahmad Shah, Mohammad Shafi Parray (tailor), Showkat Ahmad (lab assistant at FSL headquarters), Muzaffar Ahmad Khan (Naib Tehsildar), Suhail Ahmad Rather (Chowkidar, Revenue Department), Javaid Mansoor Rather (Constable, Crime Branch), Mohammad Amin (Head Constable, FSL District Police Lines), Arshad Ahmad Shah (Constable, Crime Branch), and Aijaz Ahmad (Selection Grade Constable, FSL District Police Lines).
The LG has initiated an inquiry into the incident, while expressions of sorrow from Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, and others have been prominent regarding the tragic losses.
In a message posted on X, the LG remarked: “Deeply saddened by the tragic loss of lives due to the accidental blast at Nowgam Police Station. My heartfelt condolences go out to the grieving families. I am praying for the swift recovery of the injured.”
He further stated, “The government stands united with the families, friends, and loved ones of the deceased. We are providing all possible support to those affected. I have ordered an investigation to determine the cause of the explosion.”
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also posted a statement on his official X handle expressing his sorrow regarding the incident.
“The chief minister conveyed his deep sorrow over the tragic explosion at Nowgam Police Station, which led to the loss of precious lives and injuries to several personnel,” the statement read.
CM Omar extended his heartfelt sympathies to the grieving families and prayed for the quick recovery of all injured in the blast.
Former Chief Minister and head of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mehbooba Mufti, expressed her profound anguish over the incident.
“This heartbreaking event highlights the risks and challenging conditions under which our police personnel operate to ensure our safety. My sincere condolences to the bereaved families and prayers for the swift recovery of the injured,” Mehbooba stated on X.
Tariq Hameed Karra, President of the J&K Pradesh Congress Committee, expressed deep sorrow over the tragic incident in Nowgam, offering condolences to the affected families and praying for eternal peace for the deceased.
Nalin Prabhat, J&K DGP, expressed regret over the unfortunate event and labeled any speculation regarding the cause of the blast as “unnecessary.”
