Jammu, March 31 (NationPress) Manoj Sinha, the Lieutenant-Governor (LG) of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), visited the families of four brave policemen who made the ultimate sacrifice during a recent anti-terrorist operation in the Kathua district on Monday.
During his visit, LG Manoj Sinha expressed heartfelt condolences and offered support to the grieving families of the four martyred policemen.
In a fierce gunfight in the forested area of the Sanyal belt of Kathua district, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Rajbagh police station, two Pakistani terrorists and four policemen lost their lives, while three others, including a Deputy Superintendent of Police, sustained injuries.
Sinha first visited the residence of Balvinder Singh Chib in Kanna Chak, where he met the bereaved wife and family members, offering his sincerest condolences.
He then proceeded to Londi village, located near the International Border (IB), to provide support to the family of Jaswant Singh, another courageous policeman who was slain.
Continuing his visit, he made his way to Reasi district to meet the family of police officer Tariq Ahmad in Chamba village.
During these visits, he assured the families that government jobs would be made available for the next of kin, primarily for the widows of the fallen heroes.
The LG emphasized that the entire nation stands with them and that every effort would be made to ensure comprehensive government support.
The widows of the deceased policemen expressed their need for jobs in civilian departments, citing the need to care for their young children.
Later that evening, the LG visited the family of Head Constable Jagbir Singh, who hailed from the Akhnoor area in Jammu district, to convey his condolences.
Following information from local citizens, police successfully tracked a group of terrorists after intercepting them last Sunday within a plant nursery in Sanyal Village, located approximately four kilometers from the IB with Pakistan.
This tracking led to an encounter in Sanyal village, resulting in the deaths of two terrorists and four policemen on Thursday.
The body of Head Constable Jagbir Singh, who was overseeing the local police post, was retrieved from the Ghati-Juthana forest on Saturday.
The bodies of the two terrorists, believed to be associated with the banned Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) organization, were also recovered, along with war-like stores.
The bodies of three policemen, Balwinder Singh Chib, Jaswant Singh, and Tariq Ahmad, were recovered on Friday evening.
The People’s Anti-Fascist Front, a shadow group of the Pakistan-based JeM, claimed responsibility for the gunfight.
All four martyred policemen received full honors at the District Police Lines (DPL) in Kathua.
Later, in a statement to the media, DGP Nalin Prabhat remarked that the martyrdom of the four policemen has strengthened the J&K Police's resolve to eradicate the menace of terrorism in J&K and thwart the designs of the impure neighbor (Pakistan), which sends in mercenaries to disrupt peace in the Union Territory.
The DGP asserted that actions, not words, would provide the fitting tribute the nation owes to these heroic policemen.
