Jammu, March 30 (NationPress) The Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, visited the Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu on Sunday to check on the welfare of security personnel injured during the anti-terrorist operation in Kathua.

A team of doctors at GMC Jammu provided him with an update on the health status of SDPO Border, Kathua, Deputy SP Dheeraj Katoch, and SPO Bharat Jalhotra, along with the medical procedures being implemented.

Manoj Sinha also interacted with the families of the injured and assured them of full support.

He instructed the hospital administration to guarantee the best possible medical care for the swift recovery of the courageous police personnel.

In the Kathua operation, five security personnel—comprising four policemen and one para commando—were martyred, and two terrorists were neutralized.

Seven security personnel, including the SDPO Border Kathua, sustained injuries during the operation.

The anti-terror operation is still ongoing, with additional areas near Safiyan village in the jurisdiction of the Rajbagh police station in Kathua district now under search.

The group of five terrorists, believed to be Pakistani mercenaries, was first spotted by a couple in Sanyal village, approximately four kilometers from the International Border (IB).

When the J&K Police team arrived in Sanyal village, they engaged the terrorists in an encounter.

During this encounter, the SDPO and two policemen were injured; however, the terrorists managed to escape, leaving behind weapons and ammunition.

This same group was later observed in Safiyan village at Ghati Heights, where the army, police, BSF, and NSG joined forces in the operation.

Two terrorists were killed and five security personnel were martyred in the encounter that took place in the Safiyan village area.
