Patna, May 29 (NationPress) Tragedy struck as four individuals lost their lives and four others suffered severe injuries in a tragic accident involving a speeding three-wheeler that crashed into a stationary truck in the East Champaran district on Thursday.

This devastating incident took place on National Highway 27, close to the Mewat Line Hotel, falling under the Dumariya Ghat police station's jurisdiction.

The victims, who were all members of the same family, included Deepak Sah (40), his nephew Yash Raj (20), and two younger cousins—Ritesh (12) and Nitesh (10).

These residents hailed from the villages of Mohammadpur and Bara, which are situated within the Kesaria police station's limits.

As per police reports, the family was returning home in the tempo after celebrating a wedding.

Asa Narayan Shah, a local from Mohammadpur, had just celebrated his marriage at a private hotel near Awadhesh Chowk in Motihari.

After the wedding, the bride and other family members traveled in a separate vehicle, while the deceased were in the tempo that collided with the parked truck near the Mewat Line Hotel.

The impact of the crash led to immediate panic at the scene. Eyewitnesses indicated that one person died on-site, while the remaining victims were quickly transported to Sadar Hospital in Motihari.

Unfortunately, three of those injured succumbed to their wounds in the hospital.

The in-charge of Dumariya Ghat police station, Amit Kumar, confirmed the incident, mentioning that both the tempo and the truck have been confiscated.

“We have performed post-mortem examinations on the deceased and returned them to their families. An investigation is ongoing, and we are working to apprehend the truck driver, who abandoned the vehicle on the road. Both the truck driver and helper remain unaccounted for. An FIR has been filed against the truck driver at the Dumariya Ghat police station,” he reported.

The condition of the critically injured individuals remains grave, with doctors continuing their efforts.
