Patna, May 10 (NationPress) Three wedding guests lost their lives and multiple others were injured in a devastating road incident near Lodipur village in Bihar's Jehanabad district on Saturday. The tragic event unfolded around 3 a.m. when a speeding truck collided head-on with a bus that was returning from a wedding ceremony.

The bus was transporting guests from Datmai village, under the jurisdiction of Qadirganj Police Station in Patna, to Lal Bhasara village.

The victims were identified as 14-year-old Prince, Chintamani Prasad from Gaya, and Ayodhya Prasad from Dulhiun Bazar, Patna.

All three were seated in the front rows of the bus and succumbed to their injuries due to the force of the collision.

Authorities reported that most of the injured passengers suffered from head injuries.

Seven severely injured individuals were transferred to the Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) after receiving initial care at Sadar Hospital in Jehanabad, while others were treated at Jehanabad Sadar Hospital.

"We responded promptly after receiving the report and initiated rescue efforts. All passengers were returning from the wedding procession," stated the Station House Officer (SHO) of Kadauna police station to IANS.

The calamity has plunged the victims' families into grief, many of whom gathered at the Sadar Hospital in utter distress.

"The drivers of both vehicles are among the seriously injured. The casualty count may increase," he added.

"We have dispatched the bodies for autopsy. Family members have indicated they will conduct the last rites before filing an FIR," he mentioned.

"It is still unclear why the bus driver opted for the Jehanabad route when the wedding was in Patna. One hypothesis suggests that the driver was trying to avoid traffic snarls caused by heavy trucks, which led to the accident," the SHO commented.

Investigations are actively ongoing.
