Patna, March 25 (NationPress) In a truly shocking event, a man fatally shot a girl and her father on the Railway Overbridge at Arrah railway station before turning the gun on himself on Tuesday evening.

The suspect has been identified as Akash Kumar, who hails from Udwant Nagar village in Bhojpur district, and he shot the girl from a very close distance.

When her father attempted to intervene, he was also shot, leading to the tragic outcome where all three individuals lost their lives at the scene.

The victims have been named as Ayushi Kumari and her father, Anil Kumar. Law enforcement officials have indicated that the motive behind the crime appears to be linked to a jilted lover.

Bhojpur ASP Parichay Kumar, who is actively probing the incident, commented: "A young man approached and first shot the girl and her father, then took his own life. All three perished immediately. The circumstances suggest this was related to a love affair."

Ayushi, who lived near Godhna Road in Arrah City, was at the railway station to board a train to Delhi when the shooting occurred.

Immediately following the incident, personnel from the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and the Government Railway Police (GRP) arrived to manage the situation.

“An investigation is underway. Two victims, including the girl, are deceased, and the shooter has also taken his life. Relatives of the victims have arrived, and inquiries are ongoing,” stated ASP Parichay Kumar.

Authorities are currently collecting evidence and testimonies to uncover the precise motive for the attack, with further updates expected as the investigation continues.

“We have summoned a team from the Forensic Science Laboratory to gather evidence from the crime scene. We have also invited the family members of the accused to participate in the investigation, as their insights may provide further context to the incident,” the ASP remarked.

The deceased individuals have been retrieved and sent for post-mortem examinations.
