New Delhi, Jan 26 (NationPress) In a historic first, a tri-services tableau featuring the Indian Army, Indian Air Force, and Indian Navy was showcased during the 76th Republic Day celebrations at Kartavya Path on Sunday, illustrating the nation’s military capabilities.
Emphasizing the theme "Shashakt aur Surakshit Bharat" (Strong and Secure India), the tableau presented a battlefield scenario that highlighted coordinated operations across land, sea, and air.
It displayed indigenous defense assets including the Arjun main battle tank, Tejas MKII fighter aircraft, Advanced Light Helicopter, destroyer INS Visakhapatnam, and a remotely-operated drone.
This initiative aligns with the Ministry of Defence's declaration of 2025 as the year for defense reforms, aiming to strengthen tri-services collaboration to enhance India’s military potential for current and future conflicts.
A total of 31 tableaux paraded under the theme "Swarnim Bharat: Virasat aur Vikas" (Golden India: Heritage and Progress), with 16 from states and Union Territories and 15 from central ministries and organizations.
The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) presented its 'Raksha Kavach' tableau, showcasing advanced multi-domain defense technologies, while the Corps of Signals' Daredevils entertained the audience with motorcycle stunts, concluding the 90-minute parade.
The festivities also underscored India’s military strength with high-tech platforms like BrahMos missiles, Pinaka rocket systems, Akash air defense systems, and new technologies such as the 'Sanjay' Battle Surveillance system and DRDO's 'Pralay' tactical missile. The event culminated in a spectacular flypast by 40 Indian Air Force aircraft, including Su-30 jets and C-130J Super Hercules.
Additionally, the Republic Day parade highlighted the theme of women's empowerment, featuring the CRPF's all-women contingent led by Assistant Commandant Aishwarya Joy M. This 148-member unit, consisting of women engaged in anti-Naxal and law enforcement operations, exemplified the spirit of 'Nari Shakti.'
The tableau from the Ministry of Women and Child Development illustrated a girl’s journey towards becoming an independent woman, while the Ministry of Rural Development presented the 'Lakhpati Didi Yojana', which empowers rural women through self-help groups.
The Delhi Police All-Women Band, directed by Band Master Ruyangunuo Kense, also captivated the audience with their performance, marking their second appearance in the Republic Day parade.
The ceremony commenced with 300 cultural artists performing "Sare Jahan Se Achha" on traditional instruments, showcasing India’s rich regional diversity. A dazzling flower-petal shower by Mi-17 1V helicopters added to the celebration's grandeur.
President Droupadi Murmu presided over the event, unfurling the national flag and leading the nation in honoring the day.
Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, the Chief Guest, was welcomed alongside President Murmu in a 'Traditional Buggy', a custom revived in 2024 after a 40-year absence.
Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and other dignitaries attended, celebrating 75 years since the Constitution’s enactment under the theme of "Jan Bhagidari" (public participation), reflecting India’s unity, diversity, and development.
