New Delhi, Jan 30 (NationPress) In the competition for the best tableau during the Republic Day parade 2025, both Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat vied for the leading position. Interestingly, they each secured the top rank in distinct categories. The Uttar Pradesh tableau, themed Mahakumbh 2025 - Swarnim Bharat: Virasat aur Vikas, garnered the highest honor from the judges, while the Gujarat tableau, titled Swarnim Bharat: Virasat Aur Vikas, triumphed in the popular vote, claiming the People’s Choice category.
An online survey was conducted via the MyGov platform from January 26-28, allowing the public to express their preferences. The Gujarat tableau emerged victorious in this poll, with Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand finishing second and third, respectively.
The tableau from Gujarat showcased during the 76th Republic Day celebrations, themed “Swarnim Bharat: Virasat Ane Vikas”, beautifully blended the 12th-century Solanki-era ‘Kirti Toran’ from Vadnagar (Anartpur) with the magnificent 21st-century ‘Statue of Unity’, representing the state’s rich historical heritage alongside its modern accomplishments.
This year’s online poll was an innovative addition to the traditional evaluation method, which involves a three-member panel that assesses the performances of marching contingents from Services and CAPF as well as tableaux from various states, UTs, and Central government Ministries.
In other awards within the People’s Choice category, the Signals contingent was honored as the best marching contingent among services, while the CRPF contingent was recognized as the best among the CAPF and Auxiliary forces.
The Ministry of Women & Child Development, highlighting the comprehensive journey of women and children under its welfare initiatives, received the award for the best tableau in the Central Ministries/Departments category.
The awards were presented by Minister of State (MoS) for Defence Sanjay Seth at the Rashtriya Rangshala Camp in the capital on Thursday. He also expressed gratitude to the Culture Ministry for taking on the challenge of establishing a new Guinness World Record with 5,000 artists participating in the cultural performance.
