Agartala, Feb 13 (NationPress) The advancement of Janajati (tribal) communities is crucial for achieving an "Ek Tripura, Sreshtha Tripura". Tripura's Chief Minister Manik Saha emphasized that the overall development of the state is intricately linked to the socio-economic elevation of Janajati villages.
On Thursday, the Chief Minister stated that genuine progress in Tripura is unattainable without the advancement of our Janajati brothers and sisters. He asserted that enhancing their living conditions and ensuring inclusive growth is vital for the state's advancement.
While speaking at the Mukhyamantri Janajati Vikas Yojana (MJVY) and financial assistance distribution event held at Rabindra Bhavan in Agartala, the Chief Minister reiterated the government's unwavering commitment to ensuring that development benefits reach every segment of society. He highlighted that the welfare and empowerment of Janajati communities remain the administration's top priority.
"To foster self-sufficiency and uplift the financial status of Janajati families, the Mukhyamantri Janajati Vikas Yojana was introduced for the financial year 2023-24. This initiative encourages Janajati families to engage in various income-generating activities, such as animal husbandry," the Chief Minister remarked.
He also pointed out the commitment of both the Central and state governments, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, towards the holistic development of Janajati communities.
The Chief Minister underscored the government's dedication to preserving and promoting the rich cultural heritage, traditions, and legacy of the Janajati populace.
"The citizens of Tripura have witnessed a past devoid of such development initiatives. The current administration believes in demonstrating its commitment through actions rather than mere words," he stated.
Under the Mukhyamantri Janajati Vikas Yojana, a one-time financial aid of Rs 25,000 is being dispensed to each eligible Janajati family.
"To date, 9,779 beneficiaries have benefited from this scheme," the Chief Minister noted.
Additionally, he mentioned that the state government is executing comprehensive development initiatives aimed at enhancing the quality of life, dignity, and socio-economic standing of Janajati communities.
"A significant share of both state and Central development budgets is designated for the advancement of Janajati regions," the Chief Minister concluded.
Present at the event were Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy, Tribal Welfare Minister Bikas Debbarma, Secretary of the Tribal Welfare Department K. Sasikumar, along with other senior officials.
