Agartala, Aug 31 (NationPress) Tripura's Chief Minister Manik Saha took a strong stance on Sunday against the CPI (M), accusing them of instilling a negative mindset among the public and disseminating false propaganda against the BJP administration. During his address at a gathering commemorating the 125th episode of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Mann Ki Baat' at East Takchaya in Asharambari, Khowai district, Saha highlighted the government's efforts towards the development of tribal communities and their regions.
He announced that an additional fund of Rs 170 crore is allocated for the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) in the financial year 2024-25, with Rs 860 crore sanctioned for 2025-26. This was in response to criticisms from the CPI-M and other parties regarding funding issues within the tribal autonomous body. Saha emphasized that 'Mann Ki Baat' transcends politics and that citizens eagerly anticipate this program.
CM Saha also referred to former Chief Minister and Left leader Manik Sarkar, who suggested that no one listens to 'Mann Ki Baat'. He urged Sarkar to tune in, claiming that the CPI-M is obstructing development. He warned that they would eventually fade away, asserting that their negative mentality confuses the populace.
“PM Modi is focused on nation-building and fostering connections with the public. A leader like him, who engages with citizens through 'Mann Ki Baat', is rare,” Saha remarked. He criticized the violent political culture prevalent during the CPI (M) and Congress's 40-year rule, expressing a desire to distance from such politics.
Saha emphasized unity between Jati and Janajati (non-tribals and tribals), stating that division hinders development. He condemned recent derogatory remarks made against PM Modi's late mother by RJD and Congress leaders in Bihar, asserting that such comments are an affront to India’s culture.
“A Chaiwala and a man from humble beginnings rose to become Prime Minister, which did not sit well with opposition parties. The people of Bihar and the entire country will not tolerate such disrespect,” he stated.
As the home minister, Saha claimed improvements in law and order and affirmed that the BJP government has honored the legacy of the former Tripura king, Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur, by renaming Agartala airport after him. He expressed commitment to enhancing education and health services for the tribal populace.
During the event, dignitaries including BJP General Secretary Bipin Debbarma and TTAADC member Bhumika Nanda Reang were present.
